The Dance Academy

The Dance Academy is partnering up with the Love, INC.  (Love In The Name of Christ) organization to promote kids helping kids!  In the past we have helped the local food shelf and have helped to increase awareness for different programs.  This year, we are focusing on filling the need of personal health and beauty items for Love, INC‘s Personal Needs closet.  First, I will tell you about Love, INC. and then what we need to do.

Love In the Name of Christ of Worthington is a ministry of 17 Christian churches in Worthington who have the desire to help neighbors in need within our community. Love INC works by networking existing church ministries and community agencies and mobilizing churches and individual Christians to fill the gaps in services.  

Love INC has undertaken various initiatives to accomplish these tasks.  First, a Helpline was established that acts as a clearinghouse to screen and verify requests and to connect callers with the most appropriate local resources available to meet their needs.  As Love INC identifies holes or gaps in available services that callers are requesting we then work with our partner churches to create new ministries to fill those gaps.  To date three "Gap Ministries" have been developed (Furniture, Bed & Bath Linens, Laundry & Dish Soap) and three more are nearing the end stages of development (Bunk Beds, Personal Needs Closet, Household Cleaning Closet).  These new ministries have created a whole new set of resources previously unavailable in our community.

What Can TDA families do to help?

This answer is two-fold…  One way is to help the closet by bring items for Love, INC.  The other way is to bring items for our gift baskets that we will be putting together for the drawing at each concert.  Here is how it will work:

We are going to ask everyone who attends the dance concert to bring at least one item to go towards the closet.  Items may be anything from the Health and Beauty part of a store.  Some items are:

Tooth brushes, Toothpaste, Shampoo, Conditioner, Combs/brushes, Hand soap,
Body wash, Deodorant, Shaving cream, Toilet Paper, Feminine Products, Q-tips, Cotton balls, Lotion, Kleenex.                   No glass containers, please.
